ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Grant Agreement between Kittitas County and
State of Washington Department of Agriculture Fairs
Program for Health and Safety Small Grant
BACKGROUND: The Kittitas Valley Event Center (KVEC) applies for funding from
the State of Washington Department of Agriculture Fairs Program
annually. This year, after a brief conversation with the program
administrator KVEC was notified that there was a small amount of
funding remaining in the 2016 grant budget for health and safety
projects that could be completed prior to June 30, 2017.
INTERACTION: On May 9, 2017 KVEC Director Scheffer sent in a request for
$2,500 in assistance for an asphalt replacement program to repair
several locations throughout the grounds that have suffered
damage from weather and use and that now represent trip and fall
hazards. The application is attached. On May 9, 2017 KVEC
Director Scheffer was notified that only $658.74 remained and
indicated that any amount towards the project would be helpful.
On May 10, 2017 KVEC Director Scheffer was informed that, due
to a different grant falling through, there were now ‘several
thousands of dollars’ left in the program and that the $2,500
request would be funded in full. We also now have the opportunity
to apply for additional health and safety funds and are considering
a bathroom sink replacement request for the Grandstands
bathrooms.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve Agreement Number K2208 for $2,500 in asphalt repair
projects for Kittitas Valley Event Center.
