<br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: May 16, 2017 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Grant Agreement between Kittitas County and <br />State of Washington Department of Agriculture Fairs <br />Program for Health and Safety Small Grant <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas Valley Event Center (KVEC) applies for funding from <br />the State of Washington Department of Agriculture Fairs Program <br />annually. This year, after a brief conversation with the program <br />administrator KVEC was notified that there was a small amount of <br />funding remaining in the 2016 grant budget for health and safety <br />projects that could be completed prior to June 30, 2017. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: On May 9, 2017 KVEC Director Scheffer sent in a request for <br />$2,500 in assistance for an asphalt replacement program to repair <br />several locations throughout the grounds that have suffered <br />damage from weather and use and that now represent trip and fall <br />hazards. The application is attached. On May 9, 2017 KVEC <br />Director Scheffer was notified that only $658.74 remained and <br />indicated that any amount towards the project would be helpful. <br />On May 10, 2017 KVEC Director Scheffer was informed that, due <br />to a different grant falling through, there were now ‘several <br />thousands of dollars’ left in the program and that the $2,500 <br />request would be funded in full. We also now have the opportunity <br />to apply for additional health and safety funds and are considering <br />a bathroom sink replacement request for the Grandstands <br />bathrooms. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve Agreement Number K2208 for $2,500 in asphalt repair <br />projects for Kittitas Valley Event Center. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />1. 5543-Application for Capital Improvement Grant Funds KVEC 2017 <br />2.
