ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Authorize Submittal of
United States Bureau of Reclamation Irrigation Canal
Crossing Permit
BACKGROUND:
In early 2017, the Board of County Commission approved
the Big Creek PUD. A condition of approval requires the
applicant construct a public bridge crossing the United
States Bureau of Reclamation (US BoR) irrigation canal at
Lund Lane. The US BoR prefers the County act as
applicant for the canal crossing permit. Staff has prepared
the required permit and is now ready to submit for BoR
consideration.

RECOMMENDATION:
Authorize staff submit the canal crossing permit to BoR.
HANDLING:
Return one original to Public Works

RESOLUTION NO. 2017 -
TITLE: Application for Transportation and Utility Systems and Facilities on Federal Lands,
United States Bureau of Reclamation Canal Crossing Permit Application
WHEREAS: The Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners approved the Big Creek
Trails Rezone (RZ-15-00001) to a Planned Unit Development in 2016; and
WHEREAS: A condition of approval requires a replacement of the existing federally owned
bridge (United States Bureau of Reclamation) located at the end of Lund Lane,
Cle Elum, WA; and
WHEREAS: The United States Bureau of Reclamation is requesting that Kittitas County own
and maintain the replacement bridge; and
WHEREAS: Kittitas County Public Works has agreed to submit the required canal crossing
application with a resolution from the Board of County Commission supporting
submission of the required application;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby direct the Public Works Director submit the Application
for Transportation and Utility Systems and Facilities on Federal Lands to secure a permit
allowing the replacement of the existing federally owned bridge crossing the United States
Bureau of Reclamation's irrigation canal located at the end of Lund Lane, Cle Elum, WA.
