KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: May 16`h, 2017 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Ratify the Chairman's <br />signature on the WSDOT Reimbursable Agreement for <br />Construction Support Services. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works received notice of a change in materials on <br />the Westside Road guardrail improvement project that <br />required some additional materials testing that did not <br />accommodate initiation of a task order with our on call <br />testing consultants due to short notice (less than 24 hours). <br />With this project utilizing federal funds and with recent <br />project audit results this project has no room for error. The <br />decision was made to reach out to the local WSDOT <br />construction engineer for support; inspectors working <br />regional WSDOT projects in the vicinity of the County <br />project were on site testing within hours. <br />Following this Public Works coordinated an agreement <br />with WSDOT allowing the County to reimburse WSDOT <br />for their efforts and to utilize their resources in the future <br />on an as needed bases for any construction related support. <br />Staff requested the Chair to sign the agreement allowing <br />work to commence as time was of the essence. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a resolution ratifying the Chairman's signature on <br />the WSDOT Reimbursable Agreement for Construction <br />Support Services. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: WSDOT Reimbursable Agreement for Construction <br />Support Services <br />LEAD STAFF: Lucas Huck <br />County Engineer <br />
