Home My WebLink AboutResolution 2016-133BOARD OF COL�tiTY CONMISSIONERS COL �T ' OF KITTITAS STATE OF WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2016 - RESOLUTION AWARDING FUNDING FOR GRANTS PURSUANT TO LAtiti AND JUSTICE COUNCIL RECOiNLYIENDATIONS ON SPENDING OF 1/10TH OF 1% SALES TAX RESERVES %NIEREAS : The Kittitas County Law and Justice Council met at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 21, 2016, and voted unanimously for the below described funding recommendations; and `NEREAS: These expenditures shall be made from the 1 / 10th of 1% sales tax reserve account established by the Board of County Commissioners for spending on special projects to foster cooperation, sharing of resources and enhancement of criminal justice projects within Kittitas County; and WHEREAS: Funding is to be made available January 1, 2017 except where noted as available upon approval of this resolution; and tiEREAS: The amount available for 2017 grants is approximately $30,000.00; Estimated balance in the grant funds is approximately $91,600.00 after 2016 Grant obligations and maintaining $30,000.00 in reserve for the Range Project. The following grants are recommended for approval. The LU Budget Commit.,.ee will evaluate all requests and forward recommendations to the LU Council for approval. The applicant may be required to make a presentation to the Committee if f. the application requires clarification. The final decision on grant funding is subject to approval by the K;4ttitaS County Board of Commissioners. The Kittitas County Law and Justice Council is offering mini grants to organizations with community programs that support the law and justice system. Each year, approximately $20,-000.00 is ear marked from, the one-tenth of 1 percent law and justice sales tax for this grant program. This can include equipment, materials, new programs and projects that support the goals of the Law and Justice Council and that benefit the public and law and justice community. For this year's grant applications, the Law and Justice Council is promoting the following grant thernes: • Officer Safety • Emergency Preparedness • Innovative Youth Mentoring Programs These themes are only suggestions for grant applications, and any application meeting the grant requirements will be considered. Applicants must complete the form belo'w,* Please attach'any vendor estimates, training cysts and proposed budget breakdown with total amount requested along with all equipment and supply costs that need to be considered for this grant. (Law and Justice grants do not pay for salaries.) Grant funds will be available January 1, 2017 unless there is a demonstrated urgency.
