Approve a Resolution to Award the Bid to
furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for Calendar
Year 2017.
BACKGROUND: Annually, Kittitas County Public Works goes
out to bid for the furnishing of Liquid Asphalt
Materials in accordance with Standard
INTERACTION:
Specifications of the Washington State
Department of Transportation. Call for bids are
advertised in the legal newspaper and bid
packets are sent out to all local businesses in
order to provide equal opportunity.
Bids were opened on February 23, 2017, at
2:00 p.m. in the Public Works Department.
Three bids were received and deemed
responsive.
Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve the Resolution to Award the
Bid to furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for 2017
to Western States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule
'A' and Schedule 'B' AND to Albina Asphalt for
Schedule 'B'.
HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works

RESOLUTION
NO. 2017 -
TO AWARD THE BID TO FURNISH LIQUID ASPHALT MATERIALS FOR 2017
WHEREAS: A Notice of Call for Bids was approved and signed on February 7, 2017, to
furnish Liquid Asphalt Materials for 2017; and
WHEREAS: Sealed bids were opened on February 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kittitas
County Public Works Office, and three (3) bids were received; and
WHEREAS: The Public Works Department recommends that the responsible bid of Western
States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule "A" and for Schedule "B" and the responsible
bid of Albina Asphalt for Schedule "B" be accepted; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the best
interest of the public, does hereby award the bid for 2017 Liquid Asphalt Materials to Western
States Asphalt, Inc. for Schedule "A" and for Schedule "B" and to Albina Asphalt for Schedule
"B", be accepted, upon such terms and conditions as specified in the Proposal submitted by
said bidder(s).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to sign the
contract documents upon such terms and conditions specified in the Proposal submitted by said
bidder(s).
