ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution of Declaration of Emergency for the water
line repair at the Event Center.
BACKGROUND: On January 5, 2017, The City of Ellensburg notified Event Center
Staff that they needed to turn off the water main located by The City
Pool, once the City made their repairs and turned the main back on
water began gushing around the Women’s bathroom next to Heritage
and Naneum setting the Fire Alarm System off. Maintenance staff at
the Event Center shut the water off to the Grandstands meeting rooms
and bathrooms. After identifying the reason for the waterline
break/explosion and that there would be no domestic water to
Naneum. The Interim Director of the Event Center instructed staff to
contact a plumber to determine the issue and repair. Time constraints
due to contractual obligations for Event Center users did not allow for
bidding and the plumber that had been used in the past was contacted.
INTERACTION: The City of Ellensburg. The Event Center Interim Director consulted
with staff, the Fire Department and Rell’s Fire Protection on this
issue.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution of Declaration of Emergency for the water
line repair at the Event Center.
