KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 7, 2017 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Letter to Kittitas County Teachers Grades K-5 <br />Re: National County Government Month <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: National County Government Month is celebrated in April <br />of each year. For many years now the Kittitas County <br />Commissioners office has held a coloring contest open to <br />all children in grades K-5. This year’s theme we have <br />chosen “Kindness Matters in Kittitas County”. Entries will <br />be judged on what most represents Kittitas County and the <br />theme. The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners will <br />award a season’s pass to three students from each class who <br />participates in the contest. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The deadline to submit entries will be on Friday March 24, <br />2017. All entries will be displayed throughout the <br />Courthouse from March 31st through April 21st. At the <br />conclusion of National County Government Month the <br />Board of County Commissioners will go to the various <br />elementary schools and present awards to the students. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a letter to Kittitas County teachers inviting their <br />students to participate in National County Government <br />Month. <br /> <br />HANDLING: 1 – Clerk of the Board <br /> 1 – Kittitas County Teachers <br /> Request IT to place onto the County website <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Letter to Kittitas County Teachers in Grades K-5 <br /> Coloring page <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board <br /> <br />
