KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: January 16, 2018 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Set a Public Hearing to consider a Petition to create a less than <br />Countywide Port District (Port of Kittitas County) <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: On January 3, 2018 the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners <br />received a Certificate of Sufficiency from the Kittitas County <br />Auditor’s office. The Petition was to create a less than <br />Countywide Port District. <br /> <br />Name: “Port of Kittitas County” <br /> <br />Boundary: All areas defined by the boundaries of Kittitas <br />County with the exception of that area encompassed by the <br />Naches School District. <br /> <br />Commissioners: The District to be governed by three (3) <br />Commissioners elected after voter approval of the Port petition. <br />Commissioner districts will be districts established for the <br />election of the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners, with the <br />exception of that area encompassed by the Naches School <br />District. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: A Public Hearing on the creation of a Port District shall be held <br />by the Legislative Authority if the Auditor certifies the Petition <br />contained sufficient valid signatures. Notice of Public Hearing <br />must be published in the Official County Newspaper at least 10 <br />days prior to the Public Hearing. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing to consider the creation of a Port District <br />(Port of Kittitas County) to be held on Wednesday February 7, <br />2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Armory Hall – 901 E. 7th Avenue <br />Ellensburg. <br /> <br />HANDLING: 1 – Clerk of the Board <br /> 1 copy - Jerry Pettit, Auditor (Auditor’s office to send <br />notification of Public Hearing to the Petitioners) <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Public Hearing <br /> Certificate of Sufficiency & Signer Summary <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board <br /> <br />
