2026-05-12 MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY HR STUDY SESSION MINUTES BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 W 5TH AVE., ROOM 108, ELLENSBURG Regular Meeting TUESDAY 10:00 AM 5/12/2026 Board Members Present: Cory Wright, Brett Wachsmith, Laura Osiadacz Others Present: Eileen Murphy, Zack DeHaven, Sue Higginbotham, James McCubbin, Therese Murphy, Leslie Erickson, Jeanne Killgore CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM. CITIZEN COMMENTS (1 MINUTE TIME LIMIT) None. DISCUSSION/DECISION – PUBLIC DEFENSE STAFFING Public Defense Director Murphy requested Board approval to participate in the Rule 9 internship program authorized by RCW 43.101.505, which would include bringing on a Rule 9 intern for the summer. The Board provided direction to move forward with the internship program. DISCUSSION/DECISION – AUDITOR’S OFFICE STAFFING Budget & Finance Director presented a request to approve the Auditor ’s Office administrative succession plan in anticipation of the upcoming retirement of the Chief Administrator. The Board provided direction to move forward with the succession plan. EXECUTIVE SESSION – RCW 42.30.110(i) To discuss with legal counsel representing the agency matters relating to agency enforcement actions, or to discuss with legal counsel representing the agency litigation or potential litigation to which the agency, the governing body, or a member acting in an official capacity is, or is likely to become, a party, when public knowledge regarding the discussion is likely to result in an adverse legal or financial consequence to the agency. The Board entered executive session at 10:07 AM to discuss potential litigation for an anticipated length of 10 minutes. No action anticipated. At 10:17 AM the Board extended executive session for an additional 10 minutes. The Board exited executive session at 10:27 AM with no action taken. OTHER BUSINESS None. CONCLUDED The meeting was concluded at 10:27 AM.
