Kittitas County <br />Public Health Department <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />02/17/2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />The Board of County Commissioners approves the ordinance amending Kittitas County Code <br />3.04.090 to reauthorize the tax and rescind the December 31, 2027, end date. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On December 2, 2025, Kittitas County held a public hearing to consider the 2027 sunset clause <br />for the 1/10th of 1%. Mental health and chemical dependency tax. At the public hearing the <br />Board of County Commissioners passed a motion to reauthorize the tax and remove the 2027 <br />sunset clause. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />Kittitas County Prosecutors: Reviewed and approved 12.15.2025 <br />Kittitas County Auditors: Reviewed and approved: N/A <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The Board of County Commissioners approves the ordinance amending Kittitas County Code <br />3.04.090 to reauthorize the tax and rescind the December 31, 2027, end date for the 1/10th of 1% <br />mental health and chemical dependency tax. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />N/A <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Kasey Knutson <br />
