Kittitas County <br />Coroner <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />12/16/2025 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Approve agreement. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Morgue services are historically provided on a rotational monthly basis for the coroner's office by both <br />Ellensburg funeral homes (Johnston & Williams and Brookside). Current service agreements will expire <br />12/31/2025. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />Kittitas County Prosecutor's office reviewed the agreement, and the recommended edits were made. <br /> <br />Services provided have been discussed with both the owners of both funeral homes. Mr. Henry Johnston of <br />Johnston & Williams Funeral Home & Crematory has agreed to the language, length of the agreement, <br />services provided, and fee schedule for services. Mr. Johnston signed the agreement on December 2nd, <br />2025. <br /> <br />Mr. Jamin Mohler has also agreed to the agreement but has not provided a signed document yet. <br /> <br />With the expectation of both funeral homes signing, it was agreed between Mr. Johnston, Mr. Mohler, and I <br />to continue equal rotation between the two funeral homes monthly. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve and sign the agreement with Johnston & Williams Funeral Home & Crematory extending morgue <br />services to 2027. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Cori McKean <br />
