KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES <br />AGENDA ITEM STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 1, 2025 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing for April 15th, 2025, at 2:00 pm to <br />consider Approval of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update <br />Growth Projection as recommended by Kittitas County Conference of <br />Governments (KCCOG). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: On January 27, 2025, The County Commissioners had informal <br />discussions regarding the Periodic Growth Projections at a regularly <br />scheduled study session. <br /> <br />On February 19th, 2025, CDS and their Consultant presented to the Kittitas <br />County Conference of Governments (KCCOG) an overview of the <br />populations projections process, Office of Financial Management (OFM) <br />requirements, new requirements from the Legislature to address <br />affordability, and CDS’s coordinating recommendation of accepting the <br />medium growth projections. <br />CDS fielded questions from municipalities regarding their projected <br />population numbers throughout the process, leading up to the <br />KCCOG March 19th, 2025, regularly scheduled meeting. <br /> <br />On March 11, 2025, there was a joint meeting between The Kittitas <br />Board of County Commissioners and the Kittitas County Planning <br />Commission discussing the periodic update process and where Kittitas <br />County is in relation to the OFM projections. <br /> <br />On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at their regularly scheduled meeting, <br />KCCOG recommended approval of the medium growth projections to the <br />Kittitas County Commissioners. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for April 15th, at 2:00 pm to Consider Approval <br />of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update Growth Projection <br />as recommended by the Kittitas County Conference of Governments <br />(KCCOG) at their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, <br />March 19, 2025. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one Notice of Public Hearing to Community Development <br />Services. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: None <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Chad Bala, Director <br />
