KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />2024 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: October 1, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution for contract services with <br />JRP Innovative Solutions supporting Broadband Grant <br />Application and Authorize the Public Works Director to <br />execute the Agreement. <br />BACKGROUND: Efforts to expand broadband, or high-speed internet, within <br />Kittitas County has been ongoing since 2021. The County <br />has taken efforts including applying for and receiving a <br />grant through the Public Works Board and a second grant <br />through the Washington State Broadband Office. A third <br />grant opportunity will become available through the <br />National Telecommunications and Information <br />Administration Broadband Equity Access and Deployment <br />Program (BEAD). This application process will require <br />extensive knowledge and understanding of Broadband and <br />associated legislation. <br />JRP Innovative Solutions has been previously contracted <br />with to support the County's rural broadband initiative. <br />Through their support funding has become available to the <br />County for broadband expansion. JRP Integrated Solutions <br />is best situated to support the County through the BEAD <br />grant process and contract execution. JRP will provide <br />BEAD grant application assistance, develop operating/grant <br />management and provide BEAD program coordination. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a resolution to select JRP Integrated Solutions for <br />Professional Services Contract supporting broadband and <br />Authorize the Public Works Director to execute the <br />agreement. <br />HANDLING: -Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution, Professional Services Agreement <br />LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson, Director. <br />
