Kittitas County <br />Solid Waste <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />6/18/2024 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Request Boards approval to advertise for bids for the Lower Valley Transfer Station. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Kittitas County Solid Waste has been working for the past 7 years to find a new location for the new Lower <br />Valley Transfer Station. A location has been secured and phase one construction of the roads and necessary <br />utilities have been brought to the site. <br /> <br />The county is now ready to proceed with phase two of the project which is the construction of the onsite <br />infrastructure which will include a new transfer station, compost facility and Moderate Risk Waste facility. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />The Solid Waste Department has worked with the Health Department, City of Ellensburg and the <br />Department of Ecology on this project. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Recommend the Board of County Commissioners approve the request to advertise the call for bid for the <br />new Lower Valley Transfer Station. <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />Clerk to advertise. <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Patti Stacey <br />
