KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: June 18th, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to approve the Interlocal Agreement between the <br />KCSO and Yakima County Jail <br />BACKGROUND: The purpose of this Interlocal Agreement is to allow Yakima County <br />and Kittitas County to transfer and hold inmates in times of emergency, or when there are <br />operational conflicts. <br />• In times of emergency, when one jurisdiction or the other has <br />operational conflicts, the other agency agrees to house no more than 25 <br />inmates, unless there is a mutual agreement for additional housing. <br />• The agreed upon transfer of inmates will be no longer than 60 days <br />without an extension or contract. <br />• The jurisdiction housing the inmates agrees to charge their current <br />contract rate, which will be offset by mutual exchanges (prisoner for <br />prisoner). <br />INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed and <br />approved this amendment. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Request to approve the Interlocal Agreement between KCSO <br />and Yakima County Jail <br />HANDLING: Please return 1 fully executed original to KCSO. <br />LEAD STAFF: LEC Duncan <br />
