09/14/2023 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />UPPER DISTRICT COURT – CLE ELUM, WA <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />THURSDAY 5:30 P.M. SEPTEMBER 14, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy Buchholz, Office <br />Administrator; Mark Cook, Public Works/CDS Director; Clay Myers, <br />Sheriff; Darren Higashiyama, Chief Deputy; and 14 members of the <br />public. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING TOWN HALL MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 5:30 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Special Meeting to provide <br />information on various topics about the County and projects the <br />Board has been working on. <br /> <br />The Commissioners reviewed a power-point that included an overview <br />of County government, Commissioner functions, youth projects, mental <br />health programs, public safety/law & justice; partnerships with <br />cities and other organizations, roads and infrastructure, water and <br />floodplain projects, building department statistics, economic <br />development, service expectations, land use, and challenges. <br /> <br />There was an opportunity for questions and answers from citizens in <br />attendance. <br /> <br />Some of the questions raised by citizens were related to wetlands <br />within the County, water rights, proposed solutions to problems with <br />staffing by offering internships from students at Central Washington <br />University; Broadband; concerns from the Easton community and litter <br />that comes from I-90 travelers; a request for a Town Hall meeting in <br />Easton; more advertisement for the Town Hall meetings; draft a <br />Management Plan for the development in Easton; affordable housing <br />needs; and concerns of vacation rentals. <br /> <br />The meeting was concluded at 7:12 p.m. <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik Chairman Cory Wright
