<br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> <br />Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball Team <br />Washington State 2A Champions Day – March 18, 2022 <br /> <br />WHEREAS: the Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball team are the 2022 Washington State 2A Girls <br />Basketball Champions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: in the 2021-2022 season the Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball team took first place in their <br />League, Districts, and then qualified for the 2A State High School Basketball Tournament in <br />Yakima, Washington; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: on March 5, 2022, the Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball Team defeated Burlington-Edison <br />in the State Championship game by a score of 52-32 at the Yakima Valley Sundome, making it a <br />perfect season with a 26-0 record; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS: the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners would like to recognize the Ellensburg High School <br />Girls Basketball Team members Kavara Jones, Dylan Philip, Rylee Leishman, Jamison Philip, <br />Layne Rogel, Quinn Rogel, Olivia Anderson, Kaelynn Smith, Maddie Kennedy-Colson, Rebecca <br />Johnson, Katie Blume, Brooke Ravet, Alana Marrs, and Manager Hailey Hanson, along with their <br />coaches and assistants Jeff Whitney, Gordon Onsager, Shawnee Covington, and Dom Hunter, for <br />their historically successful season, great sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork, and love for the <br />sport of basketball; <br /> <br />WHEREAS: the Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball Team has served as both leaders on and off the court, <br />as well as ambassadors of Kittitas County while traveling throughout Washington State during their <br />season; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners would like to request <br />that the citizens of Kittitas County join them in celebrating and honoring the Ellensburg High School Girls <br />Basketball Team and Proclaim March 18, 2022, as “Ellensburg High School Girls Basketball Team 2A State <br />Champions Day” in Kittitas County. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this 15th day of March, 2022. <br />THE KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> Laura Osiadacz, Chairman <br /> <br /> <br /> Cory Wright, Vice-Chairman <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: Brett Wachsmith, Commissioner <br /> <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board
