KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: March 15, 2022 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />North Thorp Highway — Yakima River Bridge Truss <br />Rehabilitation Project CRP 302-20. <br />BACKGROUND: The North Thorp Highway -Yakima River Bridge requires <br />preventive maintenance to extend the life of the structure. <br />This steel truss structure was constructed in 1936. The <br />existing paint system has failed throughout much of the <br />bridge truss. This project will rehabilitate the bridge by <br />removing the existing paint system and repainting, <br />repairing bottom chord panel points, joints, and repair <br />damaged truss portal members. <br />Federal Funding has been secured through WSDOT Local <br />Bridge Program for the needed construction work on the <br />bridge. <br />The engineers estimated range for construction is <br />$1,500,000.00 to $2,000,000.00. <br />Call for bids are advertised in the Northern Kittitas County <br />Tribune, Daily Record and the Daily Journal of Commerce. <br />Bids are scheduled to be received by IPM Thursday, April <br />7, 2022, and will be opened at the Public Works office. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve a Notice of Call for Sealed Bids for the <br />North Thorp Highway — Yakima River Bridge Truss <br />Rehabilitation Project CRP 302-20, and direct staff to <br />advertise as requested. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Sealed Bids. <br />LEAD STAFF: Joshua Fredrickson, County Engineer <br />
