BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2022- <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE WRITE-OFF OF UNCOLLECTIBLE DEBTS TOTALING <br />$30,644.55 PAYABLE TO THE KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Jail is generally responsible for emergency or <br />necessary health care for inmates pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(2); and <br />WHEREAS, the collection of payment for such treatment from inmates is allowed <br />pursuant to RCW 70.48.130(5); and <br />WHEREAS, RCW 4.16.040(2) provides a six (6) year statute of limitation for actions <br />which are based upon accounts receivable resulting from the ordinary course of <br />business; and <br />WHEREAS, the Jail Superintendent has been working to address aspects of Jail <br />records and operations that were previously neglected; and <br />WHEREAS, as a consequence, substantial amounts of uncollectable debt have <br />been discovered; and <br />WHEREAS, the write-off of uncollectible accounts is fiscally responsible and <br />necessary to provide an accurate measure of Kittitas County's financial position; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND 1T IS HEREBY ORDERED, by the <br />Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington, that the uncollectible Jail <br />medical costs as listed on Exhibit A, attached hereto, are hereby determined to be <br />uncollectible and are written off from the accounts of Kittitas County. <br />A. Kittitas County Sheriffs Office uncollectible Jail medical costs from January 1, 2015 <br />to December 31, 2015. <br />ADOPTED this day of 2022. <br />RESOLUTION <br />
