Kittitas County <br />Prosecutor <br /> <br />Agenda Staff Report <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: <br />12/7/2021 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Approve resolution authorizing check issuance. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Kittitas County owns the Shady Acres Mobile Home Park. Kittitas County has decided to close the park on <br />December 31, 2022. RCW 59.20.080(1)(e)(iii) provides that a park under a closure notice (such as Shady <br />Acres), the landlord can present to tenants who own their own units a check in the amount of the assessed <br />value and provide a vacation notice for not less than 90 days. In early November, the BOCC decided to pay <br />the tenants the greater of the assessed value or $6,000 and give them until August 15, 2022 to vacate. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: <br />I have attached a spreadsheet from the Assessor showing the valuations. Once the resolution is approved <br />and the checks cut, the Prosecutor's Office will oversee service of the checks and vacation notices upon the <br />tenants. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve resolution authorizing issuance of vacation checks for Shady Acres Tenants pursuant to RCW <br />59.20.080(1)(e)(iii). <br /> <br />HANDLING: <br />None <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: <br />Neil Caulkins <br />
