Kittitas County Courthouse · 205 West 5th Avenue, STE 108 · Ellensburg, WA 98926
(509) 962-7508 ·FAX (509) 962-7679

Kittitas County, Washington
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
District One Cory Wright District Two Laura Osiadacz District Three Brett Wachsmith

February 16, 2021

Dear Teachers,

Kittitas County is excited to once again be celebrating “National County Government Month” in
April. The Kittitas County Board of Commissioner’s office will be recognizing this special
occasion by holding their annual coloring/drawing contest which will be open to all elementary
school children in grades K-5 and are residents of Kittitas County. The theme for this year’s
coloring/drawing contest is “I Love Kittitas County Because…”.

The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners office will be judging all entries that are submitted
for the contest. There will be three entries selected for every class who participates in the contest
that most represents the theme. Those students will each win a season’s pass to the 2021 Kittitas
County Fair scheduled for September 1 – September 7.

The entries will be displayed throughout the Kittitas County Courthouse beginning April 2nd
through April 30th. Towards the conclusion of National County Government Month our office
will be contacting each school who participated in the contest to schedule a time for a County
Commissioner to either come into a teacher’s classroom or assembly to present the awards. All
entries will be returned to the schools at the time of the award presentation.

Attached is a page that can be copied and distributed to each child in your class. Please be sure
that the students first name, school, grade, and teacher is printed at the bottom of the page prior
to returning them to our office. There is only one entry, per student allowed. All entries must be
returned to the Kittitas County Commissioner’s office no later than Friday March 26, 2021 by
5:00 p.m. at 205 West 5th – Room 108 Ellensburg, WA 98926.

If you have any questions, please contact Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board at 962-7508. We are
looking forward to seeing the creativity from the children in Kittitas County. Thank you.

Sincerely,
THE KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Brett Wachsmith, Chairman

Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chairman

Cory Wright, Commissioner
