KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: May 19, 2020 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approval of Board of County Commissioners to enter into <br />a contract with Waste Management for the operations of <br />the transfer stations and the haul and disposal of the <br />municipal solid waste. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Currently the County has a contract with Waste Management to <br />operate the transfer stations and to dispose of the County’s Municipal Solid Waste. This <br />contract will expire on June 30, 2010. <br /> <br />On March 17, 2020 a proposals from Waste Management, and Republic Services were <br />received for the operations of the transfer stations and the haul and disposal of the <br />municipal solid waste. <br /> <br />The Solid Waste Department entered into negotiations with Waste Management to <br />establish fees and contract language. On April 21, 2020 presented the draft agreement to <br />the board along with the new fee schedule for the Solid Waste Department. At that time <br />the Board directed staff to finalize the agreement with Waste Management and bring <br />enabling documents for signature. <br /> <br />At this time, I would like the Boards approval and signature on the Professional Service <br />Agreement with Waste Management for a five year period starting July 1, 2020. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Solid Waste Department, Waste Management, Prosecutors Office. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Board of County Commissioners sign the <br />Professional service agreement with Waste Management for a five-year period starting <br />July 1, 2020 going through June 30, <br /> <br />HANDLING: Solid Waste Department. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Professional Service Agreement <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Patti Johnson, Solid Waste Director. <br />
