04/25/2018 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING

WEDNESDAY 10:00 A.M. APRIL 25, 2018

Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz, Vice-Chairman Obie
O’Brien & Commissioner Paul Jewell.

Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Patti Johnson, Solid
Waste/Maintenance Director/Project Manager; Rhonda Gillogly,
Architects Rasmussen, Triebelhorn.

SPECIAL MEETING COURTHOUSE ARCHITECTURE UPDATE COMMISSIONERS

At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting to receive
an update from Architect Rasmussen Triebelhorn on the proposed
Courthouse project.

Rhonda Gillogly, representing Architect Rasmussen Triebelhorn
provided maps of a design concept for the Courthouse project which
included enough spacing for growth over the next 20-25 years. There
was also an estimate of construction costs were provided which
included a base project which moves all general government and court
functions to a new facility as well as other options to remove items
such as basement level parking; leasable space; etc. A development
options analysis was provided as well for a proposed new building
and hybrid concept buildings. It was noted the costs of construction
have been increasing significantly lately and there is no relief in
sight within the next 5 years.

The Board suggested obtaining an engineer study done on electrical
upgrades to the current facility. The Board felt it would be too
expensive to build as it’s presented and they need to begin thinking
outside the box and get creative on other ways to cut down on costs.
They gave suggestions and asked the architect to rework those costs
based upon their discussion. Ms. Gillogly said she anticipated it
taking about 2 weeks to provide an updated version on the project as
discussed with the Board.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 a.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Julie Kjorsvik Laura Osiadacz, Chairman
