<br />03/06/2018 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 9:00 A.M. MARCH 6, 2018 <br /> <br />Board members present: Vice-Chairman Obie O’Brien and Commissioner Paul <br />Jewell. Excused: Chairman Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Mark Cook, Public <br />Works Director; Lindsey Ozbolt, Planning Official and one member of the <br />public. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING THORP FEMA MAPS PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />Vice-Chairman O’Brien opened a Special Meeting receive an update from <br />Public Works Director Mark Cook on the FEMA Flood Maps in Thorp, <br />Washington. <br /> <br />Mark Cook, Director of Public Works, stated that he just wanted to give <br />the Board a quick briefing on Flood Maps for the Thorp area. He <br />explained that he has been working FEMA Region 10 Floodplain Mapping <br />Staff and approximately 3 weeks ago issues relative to the Thorp area <br />came to light. He stated that the last time mapping efforts were done <br />was in 1984. <br /> <br />The Board asked questions of the two maps presented and it was noted <br />that the projections are for a 100 year flood projection. <br /> <br />The Board asked Director Cook to find out what the velocities are and <br />stated that they would like additional information. Director Cook <br />notified the Board that FEMA is shooting for a release date of 3/9/2018 <br />for the new maps.
