2017-08-29 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONER’S CONFERENCE ROOM <br />EMERGENCY SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 9:00 A.M. AUGUST 29, 2017 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz; and Commissioner Obie O’Brien. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Gene Dana, Sheriff; <br />Clay Myers, Undersheriff; Darren Higashiyama, Operations Commander; <br />and Jill Beedle, Law Enforcement Clerk. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING JOLLY MOUNTAIN FIRE SHERIFF <br /> <br />At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Jewell opened an Emergency Special Meeting to <br />consider a Declaration of Emergency for the Jolly Mountain Fire. <br /> <br />Darren Higashiyama, Operations Commander, reviewed the recent <br />activity from the Jolly Mountain Fire and said the local resources <br />have been rapidly overwhelmed and there is a high state of danger to <br />the lives and property of residents of Kittitas County. He indicated <br />the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center was activated at <br />9:00 a.m. and recommended the Board consider declaring an emergency <br />to assist in managing the impacts of the fire. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2017-143 JOLLY MOUNTAIN FIRE SHERIFF <br /> <br />Commissioner O’Brien moved to approve Resolution No. 2017-143, <br />Declaration of Emergency for the Jolly Mountain Fire. Commissioner <br />Osiadacz seconded.
