FEBRUARY 14, 2017

Board members present: Chairman Paul Jewell; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz & Commissioner Obie O’Brien.

Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board; Lucas Huck,
County Engineer/Interim Co-DPW Director; Neil Caulkins, Deputy
Prosecutor; Dan Carlson, CDS Director; Doc Hansen, Planning
Official; Brian Lenz, PSE and 6 members of the public.

SPECIAL MEETING PSE – SOLAR POWER PRJ. COMMISSIONERS

At 3:00 p.m. Chairman Jewell opened a Special Meeting to hear from
representatives with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) regarding solar
projects and the 60 day moratorium the County recently put in place.

Chairman Jewell explained that he requested an informal briefing
from PSE where they could provide history as well as discuss the
potential impacts of a moratorium on major alternative energy
facilities applications.

Brian Lenz, PSE provided a brief review of locations of where they
offer services, where it’s being provided from, and what type of
services.

There was discussion on market demand, market impacts and varying
services and the locations those services could be provided. There
was discussion on where PSE is likely to place future systems and
what their system is capable of doing.

Mr. Lenz offered to host an open house in the future to provide
information and answer questions interested parties or developers
may have.

Doc Hansen, Planning Official indicated that they have a group
formed that will be working on these types of services in Kittitas
County and would like the members to attend an open house. He felt
it would be beneficial for them since they are tasked with
addressing major alternative energy facilities applications through
the Comp Plan.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:52 p.m.

KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
