07/08/2019 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />COMMISSIONERS CONFERENCE ROOM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />MONDAY 10:00 A.M. JULY 8, 2019 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board II; Darcy Batura, <br />Forest Partnerships Manager at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and one <br />member of the public (Gary Berndt). <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING COMMUNITY FOREST OWNERSHIP COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 10:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting with Darcy <br />Batura, TNC, to receive a Presentation on the Potential Community <br />Forest ownership of Central Cascade Forest Land. <br /> <br />Darcy Batura, Forest Partnerships Manager TNC gave an overview of <br />the Community Forest Ownership; and Community Forest Model as well <br />as the 3 trips the TNC and interested stakeholders went on in <br />Montana, Hood River Oregon and New Hampshire/Vermont/Maine. She <br />briefly reviewed what it means to have a Community Forest as well as <br />the timelines for the various proposed ideas they have developed. <br /> <br />There was roundtable discussion and the Board was very clear in that <br />the community has to be in support of the proposal for them to also <br />be in support. <br /> <br />Commissioner Osiadacz stated that she would work on a letter of <br />support for the Board to consider on an upcoming agenda.
