KITTITAS COUNTY <br />EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCEROOM,205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 -ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 10:00 AM October 9,2019 <br />Board members present:Vice-Chairman Brett Wachsmith;Commissioner Laura Osiadacz <br />Others:Kady Porterfield,Event Center Director;Megan Meeks,Ellensburg Rodeo Association <br />General Manager <br />Call to Order:Vice-Chairman Wachsmith opened the meeting at 10:00AM to discuss Event <br />Center business. <br />General Event and Rental Updates:Kady reported that the new intern is currently working on <br />pulling event stats and recording the data so we can send updated numbers to Judy Pless to be <br />uploaded into OpenGov for reporting.CWU Equestrian Club has settled in nicely and has been a <br />wonderful presence on the grounds so far.Vice-Chairman Wachsmith added that he has had <br />discussions on a draft MOU with CWU for the North Parking Lot paving project and will share <br />that with Kady for review. <br />Self-Promoted Events Business:Kady has started discussions with Romeo Entertainment on <br />looking at 2020 artists.Kady will meet with their representative at a conference in Spokane in a <br />couple weeks for further discussions as she is looking at artist lists within our proposed budget. <br />Vice-Chairman Wachsmith would like Kady to reach out to the Ellensburg Rodeo Board to see <br />about using their hilltop again for fireworks as it was the perfect location. <br />Special Projects:Discussion on applying for 2020 Legislative Capital Project funding included <br />asking for the same project funding that wasn't granted on the last award this year. <br />Commissioner Osiadacz suggested putting together a one-page attachment that included why the <br />fair and that structure has such a huge impact on the youth in Kittitas County. <br />There is interest from community members on the Rodeo Arena's roping boxes being moved <br />some to the south.Meetings and discussions with the Ellensburg Rodeo Board will need to be <br />organized to get their input and approval before moving forward with the project. <br />Kady is working on putting together a couple bid packets for approval by the Board at a later <br />date so she can use the rest of her Lodging Tax Operations grant funding for 2019. <br />Kady is meeting with Fair Board members to discuss moving fencing and carnival housing to <br />open up some parking in the North Lot.Carnival housing discussions will also include looking at <br />power options as Davis Carnival Cascadia has expressed interest in partnering on an electrical <br />upgrade project for their housing area. <br />2019-10-09 MINUTES 1
