February 14, 2020
Mandy Buchholz, Clerk
205 W. 51h Ave., Room 108
Ellensburg, WA 98926
Dear Mandy,
Enclosed are the Special Event Application, flyers, map and a check for $200.00 to cover the permit fee
for our 2020 Yakima River Canyon Marathon and Half Marathon. Additional insurance to include
Kittitas County has been requested and has beensent to you soon.
The 20th annual Yakima River Canyon Marathon is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, with a starting time
of 8:00 a.m. on Canyon Road, a short distance south of the Flying J Truck Stop. The wheelchair
participants will start at 7:55 a.m. All participants will go north on Canyon Road, turn right onto Berry
Road, go east to Tjossem Road, and then .2 mile on Canyon Road. Next will be the Woodhouse Loop
Road from north to south, and back to Canyon road for the remainder of the 26.2 miles. The finish line is
located at the "truck turnaround" just north of the Sundown M Ranch in Yakima County. All Half
Marathon runners and walkers will be bused to their 9:30 a.m. start at the 13.1 mile mark of the full
marathon. They'll use the last half of the course of the full marathon.
Answers to the questionnaires are attached to each page. Nothing has changed from last year's event
when we met all of the requirements of Kittitas County.
In the past, we've had as many as 535 participants who have come from many different states, Canada
and from various other parts of the world. We hope to have 400 (more or less) participants this year.
We're planning another great event on an awesome course and ask for your support for the20th annual
Yakima River Canyon Marathon and fourth Half Marathon.
Sincerely,
Frank Purdy and Lenore and Bob Dolphin, Co -Directors
Yakima River Canyon Marathon and Half Marathon
310 South 501h Avenue
Yakima, WA 98908 FEB B
(509)961-9769 (Frank Purdy)
#urdcharter.net or da_IphinirCeam c+ eartliiitik.net
Encl.
