BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. 2019-0-=Jft? <br />RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE KITTITAS VALLEY EVENT CENTER EVENT FEE <br />WAIVERS FOR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS INJURED OR KILLED IN THE <br />LINE OF DUTY <br />WHEREAS, the Director of the Kittitas Valley Event Center (KVEC) has the authority to establish the <br />various rates, discounts, packages, policies, and procedures governing the use of the <br />KVEC; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners has the authority to ratify such <br />decisions by resolution; and <br />WHEREAS, KVEC has an interest in honoring the service and sacrifice made by Kittitas County law <br />enforcement officers that have been injured or killed in the line of duty; and <br />WHEREAS, KVEC recommends offering waivers for ticket fees for events held at the Kittitas Valley <br />Event Center for any law enforcement officer(s) employed within Kittitas County, and his <br />or her immediate family, that has sustained a major injury, one that requires surgical <br />treatment, casting, or other similar emergent medical response due to potentially life- <br />threatening injury while in the line of duty until such time that the officer is eligible to <br />return to regular duty; and <br />WHEREAS, KVEC recommends offering waivers for ticket fees for events held at the Kittitas Valley <br />Event Center for the immediate family mentbers of a fallen officer that was killed in the <br />line of duty while employed within Kittitas County for events offering a tribute to the <br />fallen officer; and <br />WHEREAS, waivers must be approved by the Kittitas Valley Event Center Director; and <br />WHEREAS, Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners determine this to be in the public <br />interest for the health, safety, and welfare of the community whereby the residents benefit <br />from such actions that increase community morale and serve to support and enhance <br />relationships between law enforcement and the general public; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Kittitas County, <br />Washington, hereby adopts the Kittitas Valley Event Center event waivers for local law <br />enforcement officers injured or killed in the line of duty as described above. <br />DA TED this cm" , 2019, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, W ASHrNGTON <br />7
