<br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT
<br />BETWEEN KITTITAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE AND YAKIMA COUNTY SHERIFF'S
<br />OFFICE
<br />WHEREAS, RCW 39.34, the lnterlocal Cooperation Act, provides the capability for
<br />public agencies to cooperate by providing services and facilities for mutual advantage;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is provide for Mutual Aid Law
<br />Enforcement assistance in the Naches, Little Naches and Cliffdell areas pursuant to the
<br />provisions of Chapter 10.93 RCW; and
<br />WHEREAS, this includes the area generally north of Highway 410 starting at the
<br />intersection of Forest Service Rd 1703 (Gold Creek Rd) west along Highway 410 to the
<br />intersection of Forest Service Rd 1900, including the area Northwest of Forest Service Rd
<br />1900, up to the Naches Pass. Both parties agree this area would require a significant
<br />response time due to the geographical barriers , from KCSO personnel. The response
<br />time is inconsistent with the needs of those residents and recreationalists. YCSO is
<br />capable of, and willing to, respond to calls for service in that area as needed; and
<br />WHEREAS, this agreement also includes the general Umptanum Creek Falls
<br />area. The Umptanum Creek Falls trailhead and approximately .5 miles into the trail are
<br />within Yakima County boundary lines. The point from .5 miles into the trail up to and
<br />including the Umptanum Creek waterfall are within Kittitas County area.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, that this
<br />Agreement between Kittitas County Sheriff's Office and Yakima County Sheriff's Office
<br />pursuant to the lnterlocal Cooperation Act, chapter 39.34 RCW be adopted.
