KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: August 7, 2018 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's signature <br />on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus for the <br />Naneum Road Culvert Replacement Project <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works is planning to rehabilitate Naneum Road at <br />approximate milepost 3.1 by replacing an undersized <br />culvert. Water overtops the road at this culvert crossing <br />every year, and the resulting erosion has washed away <br />about half of the shoulder. The culvert also presents a <br />barrier to upstream fish passage and contributes to local <br />residential and agricultural flooding. <br />Project work includes replacing the undersized corrugated <br />metal pipe with a larger structure meeting the hydraulic <br />demand and fish passage requirements. The project will <br />also provide for installation of guideposts to improve <br />delineation, and improving the shoulders to comply with <br />current design standards. <br />Construction is planned for summer/fall of 2020. Public <br />Works is preparing to commence with design work on the <br />project and is requesting the release of the federal funds for <br />the Preliminary Engineering phase. This requires the Local <br />Agency Federal Aid Project Prospectus to be signed and <br />approved by the Chair of the BOCC. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Motion to approve the Resolution Authorizing the Chair's <br />signature on the Local Agency Federal Aid Project <br />Prospectus for the Naneum Road Culvert Replacement <br />Project <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Sara Folk, Engineering Services Manager <br />
