KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: May 3, 2016 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Consider the appointment of Gary Berndt, Jim Hanson & Chris <br />Cruse to the Public Lands Advisory Committee (PLAC) for a 3 year <br />term. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Public Lands Advisory Committee was formed per Resolution <br />2013-134. <br /> <br /> It states that outdoor recreation is a key industry to the economic <br />well-being of Kittitas County and with public lands constituting <br />nearly 71% of the total lands area of Kittitas County. Those lands <br />are integral to the industry of outdoor recreation and the public’s <br />ability to access and recreate on those lands is of paramount <br />importance. The Board of County Commissioners desires to work <br />cooperatively with major public lands managers to ensure <br />appropriate access, management of wildlife and natural resources <br />on public lands is consistently available. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: On February 4, 2014, members of the PLAC were formally <br />appointed after the Committee was formed by Resolution 2013- <br />134. Resolution 2015-086 created “term” limits for the members. <br /> <br /> On April 19, 2016 Staff received a letter from the Clerk of the <br />PLAC. She indicated that the PLAC unanimously recommended <br />the appointment of Gary Berndt, Chris Cruse and Jim Hanson. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Gary Berndt, Chris Cruse & Jim Hanson to the Public <br />Lands Advisory Committee for a 3 year term. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Deputy Clerk of the Board to notify applicants of their <br />appointment to the Public Lands Advisory Committee. <br /> Update the County Boards and Commissions page. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Applications: Berndt, Cruse & Hanson <br /> Letter from PLAC Clerk <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Mandy Buchholz, Deputy Clerk of the Board <br />
