Kittitas County Board of County Commissioners Agenda Staff Report Agenda Date: March 1, 2016 Action Requested: Request acknowledgement of Fire Marshal's signature on Washington State Military Department Hazard Mitigation Grant Agreement- Amendment A Background: On October 30, 2013, the Fire Marshal’s Office submitted a grant application to Washington State Emergency Management Division for funding from FEMA for fuels reduction projects in High/Extreme Hazard areas of the county. On January 17, 2014, Tim Cook provided the county with the information that the grant had been selected by FEMA for further review. On March 11, 2014, the County was informed that our grant had been approved by FEMA and that an Environmental Determination was to be required prior to funding. The Environmental Determination was finalized in November, 2014. On April 21, 2015 Board of County Commissioners agenda the Board approved the interlocal between Kittitas County and Kittitas County Conservation District to perform the Fuel Mitigation program. On May 4, 2015 we received the contact documents from the Washington State Military Department. The documents were signed by Brenda Larsen, Fire Marshal and have been returned to the state for finalization. On, December 14, 2015, Brenda Larsen submitted the Contract Amendment A request to extend the contract. The Washington State Military Department and FEMA has approved the extension to January 9, 2017. Recommendation: We request the Board of County Commissioners acknowledge the Fire Marshal’s signature on the Washington State Military Department Hazard Mitigation Grant Agreement Amendment A changing the end date from January 9, 2016 to January 9, 2017.
