KITTITAS COUNTY
Board of County Commissioners

AGENDA STAFF REPORT

AGENDA DATE: March 1, 2016

ACTION REQUESTED: Approve Claim of Puget Sound Energy.

BACKGROUND: The claimant, Puget Sound Energy (“PSE”) claims a PSE-owned
overhead electrical wire was damaged by a County employee driving
a dump truck. PSE claims the dump truck’s bed was raised at the
time the damage occurred. Total amount claimed: $3139.74. Kittitas
County Claim # 201601250078.

INTERACTION: PSE submitted a Work Order report with the claim to provide a
breakdown of the total amount claimed.

Public Works confirmed the County engaged in road operations on
the day and place of the incident described in the claim. Public
Works also confirmed the damages claimed are consistent with
damages caused by an elevated truck bed striking an overhead
electrical wire, and the amount of damages claimed is consistent with
Public Works’ cost history. For these reasons, Public Works
recommends approval of this claim.

The Prosecutor’s Office and WCRP also recommend approval of this
claim.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve Kittitas County Claim # 201601250078 in the amount of
$3139.74, payable upon receipt of an executed release of all claims.

HANDLING: Original – Clerk of the Board
Copy – Auditor
Copy – Prosecutor

ATTACHMENTS: Claim of Puget Sound Energy
Public Works’ Response to Claim

LEAD STAFF: Christopher Horner, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney
Mark Cook, Public Works Director
