<br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONER’S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 2, 2016 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve a Notice of Call for Bids to Serve as the Official <br />County Newspaper for the period beginning July 1, 2016 <br />through June 30, 2017. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: According to RCW 36.72.075 “at the first April meeting of the <br />County legislative authority, they shall award a contract to a legal <br />newspaper qualified under the section, to serve as the Official <br />County Newspaper, for the term beginning one year on the first <br />day of July following. When there are two or more legal <br />newspapers qualified under the provisions, the County shall <br />advertise at least five weeks before the meeting at which the bid is <br />awarded”. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: In accordance with RCW 36.72.075 an advertisement of the <br />opportunity to bid shall be mailed to all qualified legal newspapers <br />and shall be published once in the Official County Newspaper. <br />The Daily Record is currently the Official County Newspaper <br />through June 30, 2016. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Approve a Notice of Call for Bids to Serve as the Official County <br />Newspaper; to authorize the Clerk to publish said notice and to <br />send a copy of the Notice of Call for Bids to the Daily Record and <br />the Northern Kittitas County Tribune. Bids shall be accepted until <br />March 25, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Commissioners office at <br />which time they will be opened and read aloud. <br /> <br />HANDLING: BOCC Staff to publish & post on legal notice board. <br />BOCC Staff to send a copy of the notice to the Daily Record & the <br />Northern Kittitas County Tribune. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Call for Bids <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board <br /> <br />
