Do not ctick [inks, open <br />attachments, futfitt requests, or fottow guidance untess you recognize the sender and have verified the <br />content is safe. <br />Commissioners, <br />This is elected officials'scheme to spend other people's money-in this case, through aO.2% sales tax increase. <br />yes, it will raise approximately $4 million annually, but that amount will still fall short of the capital requirements needed to <br />build and operate these money pits. <br />History repeats itself . <br />The BOCC already shut down one financially defunct Park and Recreation District that could not gain public support for <br />higher taxes. Kittitas County took possession of the Snow Park and paid its outstanding bills. <br />The current City pool is good enough. lt served 55,330 users last year-an average of 208 people per day it was open. <br />The problem is-not the piol; it is the City's stewardship of the facility. The roof has had documented water intrusion issues <br />since 2018. A men's urinal has been oui of service for four years, and lighting fixtures have missing or burned-out bulbs. <br />The building itself was quality built. I have swum at that location for 60 years and can compare old vs new. A new lazy <br />river brings-nothing to the table. . A leaking roof? You're going swimming-consider it a natural shower. I can swim in the <br />dark, and there are two other urinals. lf the <br />-City of Ellensburg can't budget for a a light bulb, it certainly doesn't have <br />the skill set for a high cost capital project requiring bricks and mortar. <br />Field House: Leasing money at 8% for a project that could be bonded at 4% with public support? Give me some of that <br />public sugar. <br />How much has the public used the Field House site since it burned down four years ago? Where has the public outcry <br />that is still lost?. <br />Lose the pool for one week and measure the pub'lic outrage..
