<br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />Regular Agenda Session <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 7th, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a Public Hearing on April 21st to Approve Proposed <br />Precinct Boundary Adjustments <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Ordinance 2022-002 removed voting precincts from county code and <br />reaffirmed that the Kittitas County Auditor is authorized to adjust <br />voting precinct boundaries as required to bring the precincts into <br />compliance with Chapter 29A.16 RCW <br /> <br />In accordance with the RCW and intent of Ordinance 2022-002, the <br />County Auditor’s Office is recommending seven (7) map changes to <br />the boundaries of Kittitas County Precincts effective upon approval <br />by the BOCC. The primary intent behind these changes is to ensure <br />the number of registered voters in these precincts does not exceed the <br />statutory limit of 1500 voters (RCW 29A.16.040). The Auditor’s <br />office has invited the respective political parties to review the <br />changes, who confirmed that they did not observe any issues. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Auditor’s Office has coordinated with the local political parties to <br />review the proposed changes. Once the changes are approved, we will <br />work with County IT to ensure the changes are reflected in Compas <br />GIS <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a public hearing for April 21st, 2026, to approve the proposed <br />precinct boundary adjustments. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Original – Clerk of the Board <br />Copy – Auditor <br /> <br />ATTACHMENT None <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Bryan Elliott, County Auditor
