KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: February 17, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Award 2026 <br />Distressed County Sales and Use Tax Funds in an <br />amount not to exceed $300,000.00 for the recruitment <br />and funding of an Economic Development Director <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Conference of Governments (COG) has been <br />working to implement the Kittitas County Economic <br />Development Strategic Plan. To support this plan and <br />continue investment of economic development in <br />Kittitas County and respective municipalities, COG <br />has voted for the hiring of an Economic Development <br />Director. A Sub-Committee was formed to facilitate <br />the process of recruiting a suitable candidate for said <br />position. At the December 17, 2025, COG meeting a <br />motion was made and approved to fund the <br />recruitment and first year operating expenses for the <br />hiring of an Economic Development Director. <br /> <br />Based on the motion approved by the Conference of <br />Governments, Public Works has prepared the <br />Resolution to authorize the use of Public Facility <br />Funds in an amount not to exceed $300,000.00 for the <br />recruitment and funding of an Economic Development <br />Director. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Public Works; Kittitas County Conference of <br />Governments <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve and Sign the Resolution to Award 2026 <br />Distressed County Sales and Use Tax Funds in an <br />amount not to exceed $300,000.00 for the recruitment <br />and funding of an Economic Development Director <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, Director of Public Works
