KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF’S OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: January 20, 2026 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Acknowledge an MOU between The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office Association, a nonprofit charitable organization and The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office to support the newly created K9 Program within The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office Association is nonprofit <br />charitable organization comprised of Sheriff's Office members and others. KCSOA <br />supports members of the Sheriff's Office and their families and promotes events that <br />build ties between the Sheriff's Office and the community. KCSOA has charter <br />documents and bylaws that define its mission and methods. <br /> <br />In November, KCSOA approved a resolution to create a K9 Support Program to accept <br />dedicated K9 program donations and to use those donations to purchase and provide <br />equipment, supplies, and services in support of and at the request of the Sheriff's Office <br />K9 program. The bylaws of KCSOA were amended and policies enacted to reflect this <br />new K9 Support Program. <br /> <br />KCSOA prepared and offered this Memorandum of Understanding to establish terms for <br />ongoing material donations by KCSOA to the K9 program. The MOU stipulates that <br />KCSOA makes its donations without any expectation of remuneration and without any <br />continued interest in the donated items. The MOU was reviewed and approved by the <br />KCPAO in LSR12113. It is offered for acknowledgement by the Board. <br /> <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has reviewed and <br />approved this contract. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Acknowledge an MOU between The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office Association, a nonprofit charitable organization and The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office to support the newly created K9 Program within The Kittitas County Sheriff’s <br />Office. <br /> <br />HANDLING: No handling required <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Command Staff
