KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S OFFICE <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: December 16, 2025 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of <br />Uncollectible Civil Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office for the years 2017, <br />2018, and 2019. <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Resolution Number 2004-02 established the civil fee <br />schedule for the Sheriff s Office. The Sheriff's Office recently reviewed the <br />2017=$255.00, 2018=$310.00, and 2019=$170.00 civil accounts receivable report and <br />have found there to be $735.00 in uncollectible debt which meets the statute of <br />limitations and may be written off. <br />Per RCW 4.16.040(2) there is a six -year statute of limitations for actions where accounts <br />such as these resulting from the ordinary course of business are receivable. The write-off <br />of uncollectible debt is fiscally responsible and necessary to provide an accurate measure <br />of Kittitas. County's financial position. <br />INTERACTION: This was reviewed and approved by the Kittitas County Prosecutor's <br />Office. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing the Write-off of <br />Uncollectible Civil Debts owed to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office for the years 2017, <br />2018, and 2019. <br />HANDLING: Return 1 signed copy to the Sheriff's office. <br />LEAD STAFF: Nancy Shaff <br />
