KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: August 5, 2025 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Adopt the 2025 Kittitas <br />County Hazard Mitigation Plan as Approved by the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency. <br />BACKGROUND: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) <br />approved and locally adopted mitigation plans are required <br />for local governments to be eligible for funding under the <br />Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant programs. Every five <br />(5) years these mitigation plans must be reviewed, updated, <br />and formally adopted by the governing body of each <br />participating jurisdiction. <br />Kittitas County collaborated with 15 planning partners <br />(including local jurisdictions and special use districts) to <br />update the 2019 Hazard Mitigation Plan. Public Works has <br />been notified that the updated plan has received FEMA <br />approval, pending adoption by the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br />INTERACTION: Sheriff's Office, Public Health, Community Development <br />Services. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Adopt the 2025 Kittitas County <br />Hazard Mitigation Plan as Approved by the Federal <br />Emergency Management Agency. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution; Hazard Mitigation Plan <br />LEAD STAFF: Samantha Cox <br />Public Works Water Resource Specialist <br />
