KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF'S STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 109 - ELLENSBURG <br />Regular Meeting <br />WEDNESDAY 1 8:00 AM I July 2, 2025 <br />Board members present: Commissioner Cory Wright, Commissioner Brett Wachsmith and Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz. <br />Others: Sheriff Myers, Inspector Chris Whitsett, Chief Administrative Deputy Nancy Shaff, Dora VanEpps with <br />Auditor's Office and one member of the public. <br />Citizen Comments — None. <br />Sheriffs Office Operations update and budget impacts: Sheriff Myers gave an update on the potential impacts <br />relating to the Chelan County homicide and our cost right now is $130,000 in overtime and we are not sure where <br />this places us in the budget as there are other overtime responses as well. <br />Cle Elum bankruptcy potential impacts: Sheriff Myers mentioned an impact for the Sheriff's Office could affect <br />SAR. Sheriff is looking for alternatives for SAR and will work with Cie Elum and get back to board. <br />Homeland Security Grants — 2025 federal fiscal year: Sheriff indicated he received information that a number of <br />homeland security grants for Tactical team training and equipment will not be available to us. We are currently <br />working on actuals for 2026; the ballpark is $75,00.00. <br />Other Business: Sheriff mentioned an increase in academy training costs and will discuss this increase with <br />WASPC. <br />Sheriff Myers gave a brief overview of the calls and reported crime along with the enforcement actions and impacts <br />of the operations for mid-2025 and mentioned that crimes in specific areas have gone down. <br />Commissioner Wright mentioned he met with the Fire Marshal and appreciates his approach to the burn ban. <br />Commissioner Wachsmith asked the status of the jail project.
