KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SHERIFF’S OFFICE <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: April 15, 2025 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a public hearing for the use of Title III funds to <br />improve/update Kittitas County Search and Rescue equipment. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office’s has received Title III funds <br />from the US Forest Service through Washington State. Title III funds, under P.L. 115- <br />141, section 302(a)(2) provides that Title III funds may be used to reimburse counties for <br />search and rescue and other emergency response activities, including firefighting and law <br />enforcement patrols, performed on national forests. It is our intention to spend these <br />funds to improve/update equipment within our Search and Rescue Division. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Title III rules have been reviewed, and our process has been <br />approved by the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve request to set a public hearing to allow the public to <br />comment on the intended use of Title III funds. <br /> <br />HANDLING: None <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Command Staff
