KITTITAS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT
Applicant: Kittitas County Superior Court
Project Title: KC Felony Drug Court
Target Population: Substance use disordered individuals who are charged with felonies whose
needs surpass those of others charged with felonies who are not addicted.
Description: The Drug Court personnel have turned over since the court was established. One
focus of this program is to train the new Superior Court Judge and all the court personnel in best
practices associated with the trial, sentencing, supervision, and probation of substance use
persons in Drug Court. The second focus is to provide therapeutic interventions to Drug Court
participants including parenting, anger management and GED preparation and testing to reduce
recidivism and increase possible successful return to family and society.
Strengths: This is a focused proposal with clear, small budget, justification and evaluation plan.
Advisory Board Comments: The advisory board commented that this proposal should be
supported with other county funds, but the advisory board was advised the court was indeed
funded through multiple sources.
It is unclear why more funds for interventions for Drug Court participants weren’t requested.
Requested Budget: $45,376
Advisory Board Recommended Budget: $45,376
