COMMUNITY BUILDERS

Applicant: Community Builders
Project Title: The Shop
Target Population: Youth
Description: Community Builders intends to maintain current services and expand The Shop
hours, add 2 drug free retreats, staff training, additional support groups for LGBTQ+ youth,
Substance Abuse, and Middle and High School. Community Builders proposes to expand services
to Easton and Thorp School Districts.
Strengths: This is an established program that is used by many Cle Elum youth. There are no
costs/barriers to participants. Community Builders has established partnerships with other service
providers in the county.
Advisory Board Comments: The advisory board would like to know how and when the Shop will
expand services to Easton and Thorp. The sustainability of this program was identifled as a
concern. The advisory board would like clariflcation on how much of the funding is for 2025 (which
has already received funding from 1/10th% and what is intended for the new year 2026. (After
careful reading of the proposal I see that $50,000 is intended to replace ARPA funds that are
expiring. The remainder of the budget is for 2026.)
County staff is consulting with legal counsel to determine whether some of the funds requested
are allowable. The advisory board would like to advocate for food to be allowed as a budget item for
support groups as food challenged youths perform better when not hungry.
The budget was reduced by the advisory board to refiect other unallowable expenses.

Requested Budget: 200,020
Advisory Board Recommended Budget: $182,000
