2024-08-05 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING

MONDAY 2:30 P.M. AUGUST 5, 2024

Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz; Commissioner Cory Wright.

Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Eileen Murphy, Public
Defense Director; Kady Porterfield, Event Center Director; Patti
Stacey, Facilities Director; Chelsey Loeffers, Public Health
Director; Bryan Elliott, Auditor; and Amy Cziske, Treasurer.

SPECIAL MEETING COUNTY EXECUTIVE COMMISSIONERS

At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Wachsmith opened a Special Meeting to receive
a report from the County Executive Management Development Committee.

Bryan Elliott, Auditor, explained how the committee had been working
together on their report for the last 6-8 months. They do not have a
recommendation of creating a County Executive position, but rather
if the Board chose to go that route, their findings would assist in
making it a better transition for the County.

The report provided information on sections including the Scope &
Process, Internal Organization, Budget & Finance, External
Organization, Resources, Culture, Decision & Implementation,
Alternative Solutions, and a proposed Implementation Timeline.

The Board said they’d like to schedule a meeting at the beginning of
September, prior to the monthly Management Team meeting, so they
could report back to them their decision of moving forward or Not
with a County Administrator model. Commissioner Wright said he
doesn’t want to move forward with the position unless the full Board
is in support of it, for instance he does not want to move forward
with a vote of 2-1. Vice-Chairman Osiadacz said she’d like to know
ahead of time how people felt, either way, and encouraged people to
share their thoughts on a possible County Administrator position.

Meeting concluded at 3:30 p.m.
KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

Julie Kjorsvik Brett Wachsmith, Chairman
