BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLU floN No. 2024 - I b? <br />A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING FUNDING FOR A GRANT PURSUANT TO STATE FUNDING <br />THAT WAS ALLOCATED TO LOGAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TO VERIFY THE ADDRESS AND <br />R ESlpElr G_Y eE AL T EEG ! gIEEEq q EX gE FENPEE9 A N D Kle,N.A P P lN q,q F FE UD F q <br />UNDER RCW 9A.44.130. <br />WHEREAS, the Washington State Legislature provides funding to local law enforcement <br />agencies through WASPC (the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs) to verify the <br />address and residency of all registered sex offenders and kidnapping offenders under RCW <br />9A.44.130; and <br />WHEREAS, the funds awarded are designed to support all aspects of Registered Sex <br />Offender Address Verification, and are required to be used for face-to-face verification of a sex <br />offender's address at the place of residency; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant cycle follows the state fiscal year, starting July 1 ,2024 and ending <br />June 30, 2125,with funds disbursed in equal allotments each quarter; and <br />WHEREAS, funding from this program will also be used to send at least one staff person to <br />the OffenderWatch User Group meeting and the SONAR Committee Meeting; and <br />WHEREAS, the funding supports the efforts of the Sheriff's Office to enforce the legal <br />requirements of Chapter 9A.44 RCW and thus improve the communityis safety, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, thAt this <br />Agreement between Kittitas County and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs <br />be adopted. <br />ADOPTED this Lo+h day of Auvn,ffi 2024-0 <br />B COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />NTY, WASHINGTON <br />, Vice-Chair <br />oner <br />arrman <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />Douglas Mitchell, Dep <br />Z-Clerk of the Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />f Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />RESOLUTION <br />P ng Attorney
