KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: August 20, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution initiating County Road <br />Project designated as CRP NO: 321-24, No. 6 Road <br />Improvements. <br />BACKGROUND: The Country Road Administration Board (CRAB) administers <br />the Rural Arterial Program (RAP) biennially to assist funding <br />County road and bridge construction projects across <br />Washington State. CRAB is currently accepting final <br />prospectus applications for the next biennium (2025-2027), and <br />Public Works has identified the No. 6 Road as a project fitting <br />the criteria for funding. <br />Preliminary prospectus for No. 6 Road Improvements was <br />submitted to CRAB in April of 2024, and was scored as the <br />sixth highest project in the Southeast Region for its funding <br />category. Additional scoring will be applied to projects <br />submitted during final prospectus. <br />The project will include of the replacement of the existing <br />pavement to repair failing pavement sections, widening the <br />travel lanes to 12-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders, and <br />addressing roadside safety elements including the addition of <br />guardrail and removal of hazards in the clear zone from <br />milepost 0.00 to 3.58. <br />To meet the requirements of the program, the project should be <br />initiated as a county road project and shown on the County's <br />Six Year Transportation Improvement Plan. <br />Project design will be performed by Public Works staff with as - <br />needed assistance from on -call consultants. The project will <br />require a 10 percent match in local funds for design and <br />construction. The current estimated total cost for the project is <br />$1,450,000, with $145,000 being the local match. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution initiating County Road Project <br />designated as CRP NO: 321-24, No. 6 Road Improvements. <br />
