July 9,2024 Kittitas County Board of Commissioners 205 W 5th Street Etlensburg, WA 98926 Dear Board of County Commissioners, Subject: Recommendation for Funding proposat We, the members of Kittitas County Homeless and Affordabl.e Housing Committee are writing to formatty recommend funding for Odd Fettows Lodge 20 Housing Project. After thorough consideration and evaluation, we betieve that this proposat atigns with the committee's priorities and mission and warrants financiat support to achieve its goats. The Lodge is requesting $338,000.00 from the Affordabte Housing Funds to use as match funding for the housing project which witt construct 20-30 low-income housing units on 3 acres of tand at 1900 Brick Road in Ettensburg. Our committee has reviewed the apptication, proposed budget, and supporting documents for the Odd Fettows project. We have scored the apptication with consideration for the potentiat impact, feasibitity, and sustainabitity of the project, considering the needs of our community and the avaitabte resources. We are recommending this project be funded for the fottowing reasons: 1 . The proposaI submitted for this project was very wett written, clear and concise, thorough, and addressed att of the required components in the grant proposat. 2. The project witt add 20-30 units of affordabte housing to the totat affordabte housing inventory in this county. Our current inventory is wett behind projected affordabte housing needed in this county in the next severalyears and needs this project. 3. The project is Phase 1 of a targer project to devetop a total of 10.4 acres with up to101 units affordabte housing, a chitd care center, and potentiat other smaLL commerciat retait to enhance the development. 4. The requested funding witt be used to match other funding from the City of Ettensburg and the state and demonstrates Kittitas County's commitment to this project. ln conclusion, we urge the Board of County Commissioners to approve the funding proposalfor Odd Fettows Lodge 20 Housing Project. This investment witt not only address criticat. needs within our community but atso contribute to the overatt wett-being and prosperity of our county residents.
